Consignment Process
How It Works
We accept items Monday through Saturday until 5:00 p.m. We set up an account for you in our computer, label all your bags or boxes of items, and give you a consignment contract. After reviewing your items while you wait, the things we accept for consignment will be entered in the computer under your account. The things we don’t take will be set aside for you to take home or will be donated with your permission.
To accommodate your busy schedules you can use our “Drop and Run” form included on this site.
Please save us time by pre-screening your clothing and other items for stains or wear and for appropriate brands. We can only accept top name brand or boutique brand items that are new with tags or in like new condition. We do not accept brands of any major discount chain stores. Items must be wrinkle free and in ready to consign condition.
Consignors will receive 40% of the final selling price on consigned items exclusive of buyers fees. No payment is received until after an item sells. Funds accumulate on your account as items sell and all funds on a consignor account are available to the consignor at any time upon request. Checks are not automatically generated. A $1 fee is deducted from all checks for processing and postage if you request to have a check mailed to you. Unused balances accumulate as items sell and remain in consignor’s account until applied toward a purchase or cashed out. Accounts that remain idle with no activity for more than two years are subject to annual maintenance fees.
We accept items for the current season only. We accept items for Spring and Summer beginning January 15th through April 1st and those items remain on the floor until after annual summer clearance sales on or around July 4th. We accept for our Fall and Winter season beginning July 5th through October 15th and those items will remain on the floor until after our annual winter clearance sale the day after Christmas.
Items brought in for a season remain on the floor for the entire season with the understanding that items remaining in the store at the time of the clearance sale will be included in the clearance sale at major discounted prices. If any items remain after clearance sales are complete, those items will be pulled from the floor. Notice of the close of season will be sent via our monthly newsletter and consignors who indicated a preference may pick up remaining items. If items are not claimed after two weeks of notification they become the property of Ladybug Landing to be disposed of as they see fit including donations to local charitable organizations. (We encourage consignors to donate – in most cases there will be only a few, less desirable items remaining.)
All items are subject to markdowns, seasonal sales, and clearance sales at the discretion of management. The consignment split will be on the final selling price.
Ladybug Landing is not responsible for loss of consigned articles through fire, theft, vandalism or natural disaster.
Charitable Donations
We encourage all consignors to consider donating their unsold items to charity. Ladybug Landing is proud to support two very important local organizations.
We have chosen the Florence Crittenton Home as our charity of choice for unsold maternity and baby items. If you would like to learn more about the Florence Crittenton Home and the important role they play in our community, please visit their website at http://www.flocrithome.com/.
Our donated clothing for school-age children is provided to Fayette County school children through a program sponsored by the Lexington Women’s Club. The Women’s Club operates a “store” where school children who are nominated based on need can shop for free clothing and other items.

Clothing Requirements:
All clothing to be consigned should meet the following requirements:
- Freshly laundered (preferably in an unscented detergent).
- Children’s dress clothing should be on hangers.
- Children’s items not on hangers should be placed flat in a tote or laundry basket to minimize any wrinkles.
- Free of any stains, holes or wear.
- All buttons, snaps and zippers in working order and closed.
- Children’s shoes should be like new. They must be free of scuff marks and no excessive wear.
- Career maternity clothing should be wrinkle free and on hangers, otherwise folded neatly in a tote.
All items should be in ready to sell condition when you bring them in. For this reason we cannot accept clothing in garbage bags. When selecting items for consignment, ask yourself if they are in the condition in which YOU would like to buy them yourself.
Nursing Gear
We also accept a variety of nursing items. We will accept used breast pumps for consignment as long as they are classified as CLOSED SYSTEM hospital-quality only. Closed System means that it is impossible for the milk to reach the motor hence they are safe to be used by multiple mothers. The following pumps are designed to be used by multiple users:
- Hollister Elite Hollister Lact-e
- Hollister SMB Breast Pump
- Medela Classic Breast Pump
- Medela Lactina Breast Pump
- Medela Symphony Breast Pump
- Bailey Nurture III
If your pump is not on this list please consult the operating instructions or the original packaging. Anything labeled as Single Use, or if it cannot be determined, will not be accepted due to health concerns.
Nursery and Children’s Furnishings
Cribs, changing tables, playpens, dressers, lamps, nightlights, mobiles, monitors and crib bedding sets will all be accepted if in excellent condition and provided they meet all current safety standards. Cribs must be fixed gate only. No drop side cribs will be accepted for consignment. Please call ahead for larger items to check for space availability.
- All gear and cribs should be of current style and meet all current safety standards.
- Whenever possible, please include the owner’s manual and assembly instructions.
- All cribs must be pre-assembled in shop for inspection. If you are not able to transport your crib assembled, we will provide the space, tools, and assistance if necessary.
- Baby gear is often recalled for minor problems. Please do a quick recall search before bringing items in to save you the trouble transporting them in the event there has been a recall. You can do a search on the Consumer Product Safety Commission web site: http://www.cpsc.gov/
We cannot accept any recalled item for resale.

Pricing
Management will set pricing. We will generally price clothing at around 30-40% of the retail price depending on the condition. Gear will go for closer to 40-70% of the retail price. We constantly check online for retail prices and use the lowest advertised price as our base. For furniture or large/expensive items we will work with the consignor to set a price and will offer a higher percentage to the consignor. Please call for details.
